My weekend
Hello everyone!
I finished up my first week of classes and think I am going to enjoy all of the classes I'm taking (mostly because they all seem easy). This past weekend was filled of adventures in Barcelona and northern Spain.

Besalú
On Friday I took a bus to the 10th century town of Besalú and the Dalí museum. Besalú was a cute little town about an hour from the French border where we explored the old streets and ate a traditional Catalan lunch.

We couldn't figure out what this building was or how to get to it |
Dalí Museum
Seeing the Dalí museum was an incredible experience because it was designed and built by Dalí himself and it is also where he is buried. The museum itself is Dalí's largest work of art.
From far away it looks like Abraham Lincoln |
From close up it is Dalí's wife Gala looking out at the Mediterranean |
Dalí's favorite work of art |
Top of the museum looks like an insect eye |
Dalí's portrait of Picasso shows that he both disliked him yet admired him |
Where Dalí is buried |
Dalí used drawers to show that we have compartments for our feelings. Some are open and other closed. |

Parc Guell
On Saturday we hiked around Parc Guell to see the sunset. We didn't go to the actual monument part but the sunset was still beautiful.Correfoc Night 1 (Clot)
Later that night we went to correfoc right outside of our apartment. Correfoc means fire run in Catalan and is a Catalonian tradition of running and dancing in the streets with people dressed like devils while they twirl around sticks that look like giant sparklers. They also have giant pig and dragon statues that they shoot fireworks off of. They usually run after people and try to get them with the fire or try and get them to dance with them.Dragon/Dinosaur |
